Please review the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/admissions\/apply-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apply to ACC<\/a>\u00a0web page for the step by step process for all students new to ACC. If you are a current ACC student, skip to Step 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Learn more about the Biotechnology Program and Degrees Offered<\/strong><br \/>\nPlease review our programs<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/cms\/site\/www\/catalog\/programmaps\/programmap.php?ap=9881&amp;aos=SETMA&amp;yr=2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biotechnology: Level One Certificate<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/cms\/site\/www\/catalog\/programmaps\/programmap.php?ap=9623&amp;aos=SETMA&amp;yr=2026\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biotechnology: Associate of Applied Science<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/cms\/site\/www\/catalog\/programmaps\/programmap.php?ap=9625&amp;aos=SETMA&amp;yr=2026\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biotechnology: Advanced Technical Certificate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 2A: UT Biochemistry Students<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>What is the program?<\/em><br \/>\nThe program promotes UT students to seek dual enrollment with ACC and UT so they can complete the post bac certification in Biotechnology while at the same time finish their 4-year degree in Biochemistry at the University of Texas. UT students can take biotechnology courses at EVC or RRC over the 4 years they are enrolled at UT. Usually students wait until sophomore or junior year but they can start sooner if they know they want to work in the biotech industry. The last course in the ACC Biotechnology program is the capstone internship course. Traditionally<br \/>\nstudents take this course if they want to transition into a job as many local employers hire students immediately after they finish this course. Presently, the ACC Biotech Program has 100% placement and has even placed students in industry in other states.<\/p>\n<p>Reach out to <a href=\"mailto:sspulock@austincc.edu\">Steven Spurlock<\/a> to schedule a zoom advising appointment. UT BIO206L is equivalent to\u00a0 ACC BIOL 1414, UT BCH219L is equivalent to ACC BIOL 1415. If you have taken either of these courses make sure to provide transcripts during<br \/>\nadvising session with Steven.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3: Curious about Working in a Biotech Lab?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sem.austincc.edu\/biotech\/intro-to-biotechnology\/\">Introduction to Biotechnology<\/a>\u00a0course is an open enrollment course with no college prerequisites designed to foster general interest in Biotechnology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Biotechnology Department New Student Advising<br \/>\n<\/strong>A face to face Departmental Advising appointment is essential for all first-time and returning students of the Biotechnology Programs.
