ASTRONOMY & PHYSICS PROFESSOR- JOHN FULTON, Teaching Methods & Style

What To Expect In Class:
I use a very interactive style. There is a detailed set of chapter by chapter PowerPoints with embedded questions and opportunities for students to take notes (one chapter per week.) The students fill these out mostly during the lecture period and submit them weekly for a grade.
Students also use a set of Crash Course Astronomy worksheets — no more than two/week — to prepare for the lectures which are also graded.
The lectures are interspersed with demonstrations to reinforce the astronomy/physics and some mathematical problem solving guided by the professor. In courses with a Lab component, about 12 separate Labs are accomplished. In both types of courses (with and w/o a lab) opportunities are available for students to get their warm eyeball to safely view the Sun and nighttime sky using the telescope and naked eye.
