Kevin returned to school in 2013 to pursue a career in life-sciences and quickly found a home in ACC’s Biotechnology Program. Along with the hands-on laboratory technician training, Kevin has had many career building opportunities during his pursuit of an Associates of Applied Science degree in Biotechnology, including project leader of a grey-water recycling project presented to the EPA in Washington D.C. His team received an honorable mention alongside noteworthy schools such as Cornell and Stanford!

Recently, Kevin received specialized training at a bio-manufacturing workshop in North Carolina. Using this training, he will help train other biotechnology students as a paid teaching assistant for the Wagner Peyser grant over the summer. As a teaching assistant Kevin will help Introduction to Biotechnology students in the classroom, during open labs and at specialized new cGMP workshops.

All of these opportunities and experiences in addition to his laboratory training that he has had in the Biotechnology Program led to an internship at TeVido BioDevices where he is following his dream of working with cutting edge technology that could potentially change the world. In this internship Kevin is taking his laboratory training to the next level by applying his training in a workforce position. At TeVido Kevin is working with various cutting edge equipment such as 3D medical device and bio-printers.

Kevin is graduating from the program this summer and hopes to be offered a full time job at TeVido BioDevices or another biotechnology company in Austin. In the future, Kevin plans to attend graduate school specializing in regenerative medicine with the goal of working with 3D bio-printers.  “I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for ACC,” Kevin said. “The professors have all helped opened so many doors for me and led to lifelong connections.”
