Dual enrollment Austin Community College (ACC)/Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA) Intro to Biotechnology II (Biol 1415) students participated in a two week training unit and design challenge on 3D printing using materials funded by the Wagner Peyser Grant (TWC contract #1415WPB000). Through this unit, students were trained to set up and maintain a Makerbot 5th generation Replicator 3D printer. Students were also trained to use the 3D design programs Tinkercad and Google SketchUp Pro. Students used their training in a lab activity challenge to design and 3D print a new piece of labware or modify a existing equipment for the biotechnology lab.
